Privacy & Data Retention

Effective 5 September 2026

whatidid has no account, no server, and no analytics. Nothing you write in it is sent to us or to anyone else.

What the app stores

Where it lives

Your log is stored on your iPhone. When you are signed in to iCloud, it is also stored in your own private iCloud account and kept in sync across your devices. iCloud is run by Apple under your Apple Account and Apple's iCloud terms.

Your entries, notes, label names, and attachments are encrypted in iCloud so that only your signed-in devices can read them. We cannot read your log, and we have no way to reach it.

If you are not signed in to iCloud, the log stays on this iPhone only.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting service, and no third-party code that sends data anywhere. It does not track you, and it does not use your data for any purpose.

If you have chosen in iOS Settings to share crash reports with app developers, Apple may pass us a crash report. That report does not contain your entries.

Tapping a link you saved opens it in your browser. The app does not fetch or preview links itself.

How long we keep it

Your entries are kept until you delete them.

When you delete an entry, it moves to Recently Deleted in Settings, with its attachments. It stays there for 30 days on every device that shares your iCloud, and you can recover it at any time in that window. After 30 days it is removed for good from your devices and from your iCloud, and any month summary that drew on it is removed or regenerated without it at the same time, even if you never open that month again.

Deleting a label does not delete the entries that used it. They are kept and show no label.

Removing everything

To remove your whole log, delete the app from each of your devices, then delete the app's data from iCloud in iOS Settings under your Apple Account, iCloud, Manage Storage.

Changes
